Photo train finale for the "Rosnicka"
With steam locomotive 464.202 around Nemotice
Saturday, 25.04.2026
It has long been known that the "Rosnicka" (Tree Frog) locomotive - number 464.202 - is slated for transfer to a museum as a static exhibit once its operational certification expires. The locomotive’s condition has deteriorated significantly in recent years; this is particularly evident in a persistent leak in the left cylinder that has yet to be repaired. This made it all the more important to showcase this exceptionally beautiful machine - of which the ČSD acquired only two units - in an authentic setting once again, hauling a dedicated photo train.
Major changes are also imminent along the railway line between Brno and Uherské Hradiště. At present, the main line largely retains its historic character, featuring surviving semaphore signals, old level-crossing barriers, and lovingly maintained station buildings. However, electrification is just around the corner - initially as far as Nesovice, and subsequently extending to Uherské Hradiště. Early signs of this transformation are already visible in Kyjov, where the semaphore signals were removed just a few weeks ago. Consequently, the conditions for organizing classic photo train events are unlikely to improve in the future.
Nevertheless, on April 25, 2026, it was possible to put together an impressive train once again. Blessed with perfect weather, the event yielded unique photographs that are unlikely to be replicated. Special thanks go to the organizers, promoters, crew members, and all other contributors who, with great passion, provided participants with an extraordinary railway-themed experience.
